Draft, pending legal review

This text is a draft. A lawyer has not checked it yet, and it may change before Min Beiti opens. Parts marked “to be confirmed” are not final.

Terms of use

Last updated:

These terms explain how Min Beiti works and what we expect from buyers and makers. By using Min Beiti, you agree to them.

What Min Beiti is

Min Beiti is a marketplace. It connects people in Lebanon who make things at home (makers) with people who want to buy them (buyers).

The first part to open is Arts and Crafts. Homemade food and tailoring will come later, with their own rules.

Min Beiti does not make or own the items. Each maker sells her or his own items and is responsible for them.

Who can use Min Beiti

Anyone can look at items without an account.

To buy or sell, you need an account, and you must be at least 18 years old (age to be confirmed by legal review).

Makers must live in Lebanon and sell items they make themselves.

Your account and signing in

You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code that we send by WhatsApp, or by SMS if WhatsApp does not work. You can also sign in with Google or Apple.

A phone number is needed before your first purchase or your first sale. One account works for buying and for selling.

Keep your phone and codes to yourself. Never share a sign-in code with anyone, including people who say they work for Min Beiti.

You can delete your account at any time in the app, under “Delete my account”.

Rules for makers

  • Sell only items you make yourself, by hand.
  • Describe each item honestly, with real photos of your own work, the right price, size and time to make.
  • Never sell anything on the banned items list.
  • Accept or decline new orders within 24 hours, and have accepted orders ready on time.
  • Pack items safely so they arrive in good condition.

Makers have levels. With a verified phone number you can sell, with a limit of $100 per order. To become a Verified maker, you send a photo of your ID and a selfie; once our team approves them, you get the Verified badge and no order limit.

Orders

When you place an order, the maker has 24 hours to accept or decline it. If the maker does not answer in time, the order is cancelled.

You can cancel freely before the maker accepts. After that, please ask our support team.

If your basket has items from several makers, each maker gets a separate order with its own delivery fee.

The price you see when you order is the price you pay, even if the maker changes it later.

Payment

For now, you pay in cash to the courier when your order arrives. There is a limit on the amount per order for cash on delivery, shown at checkout.

Prices are in US dollars. An amount in Lebanese pounds may be shown for information.

Online payment will come later. We will update these terms when it opens.

A buyer who refuses cash-on-delivery orders twice may lose the option to pay in cash.

Delivery

Orders are delivered by our delivery partners. There is no pickup at the maker’s home.

The buyer pays the delivery fee. You see the fee and the expected date before you order.

When the courier arrives, you give them the 4-digit code shown in the app. If delivery fails after a second try, the item goes back to the maker.

Problems and refunds

Handmade items are made for you, so we do not accept returns if you change your mind.

You get a refund only if the item arrives damaged, or is not as described.

To report a problem, tap “There’s a problem” in the app within 48 hours of delivery, and add a photo and the reason.

Our support team looks at each case and decides on a full or partial refund. While a case is open, the maker’s payment for that order is on hold.

Reviews

After a completed order, you can rate it from 1 to 5 stars, with words and a photo if you like.

The maker can reply once, in public.

Reviews must be honest and polite. We may remove reviews that are insulting, false or not about the order.

Fees for makers

During the beta, Min Beiti takes no commission (0%) from makers. We will tell makers clearly, in advance, before any commission starts.

Makers are paid every week for orders completed that week, by Whish or in cash through the delivery partner.

Hiding items and suspending accounts

We may hide an item that breaks these terms or the banned items list, and we tell the maker why.

We may suspend or close an account after repeated or serious breaches, for example fraud, unsafe items or abuse of other users.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will show the new date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app before important changes take effect.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Lebanon, and disputes go to the courts of Lebanon (to be confirmed by legal review).
